Telstra is now offering Starlink satellite internet plans to small businesses with five or fewer employees.
The plans cost $125 per month, the same price at which Telstra sells its Starlink plan to consumers, plus the Starlink Kit hardware for $599.
As with the Telstra's residential Starlink plan, it includes unlimited data at maximum download speeds of 50Mbps and maximum upload speeds of 10Mbps as well as a Telstra Smart Modem (Gen 3). This is around the same speed as an NBN 50 plan.
Starlinks own business plans start at $176 per month although come with much higher speeds of up to 220Mbps download speeds and up to 25Mbps upload speeds.
Telstra Starlink business plan customers will also get a business phone service including unlimited calls to standard national mobile and landline numbers.
Telstra's Business Tech State of Play report found that access to fast, reliable and secure internet connectivity will have the biggest impact on Australian small-to-medium businesses in the next one to two years.
As a Low Earth Orbit satellite internet service Starlink can reach small businesses in regional and remote parts of Australia, increasing competition in the market and providing another option. 30% of small businesses in Australia are in the regions.
Amanda Hutton, Telstra Business Group Executive said "It's set to provide additional connectivity options for businesses in rural and remote areas where traditional terrestrial networks are historically or geographically challenged. By leveraging satellite technology, we’re able to ensure that some of the most isolated businesses can access broadband internet."
