Telstra has just increased the price of its Starlink plan or 'Satellite Home Internet' as it sells it. Originally available for $125 per month, the telco has increased the price to $150 per month ongoing.
It has however, simultaneously dropped the 50Mbps speed cap, now offering downloand speeds between 170 and 320Mbps in line with Starlink itself.
At the time Telstra started selling Starlink plans in 2024, Starlink was selling plans for $139 with the main difference between Telstra's slighly cheaper plan being the speed cap it imposed.
Since then however, Starlink has moved from offering a single plan to three Residential plans, starting from $75 per month with a 100Mbps speed cap. It also now offers the hardware kit, valued at $549 as a free rental. If you get a plan via Telstra, you'll still need to pay the full $549 one-time fee for the kit which includes your router, all the cables and a kickstand. Telstra does however also include its Smart Modem 4 as part of the package, which enables 4G and 5G backup.
Telstra's latest change brings its plan to direct parity with Starlink's Residential Max plan which also costs $150 per month.
Here's a look at Starlink's current Residential plans:
If you don't need all that speed than Starlink's 100Mbps and 200Mbps might be a better option for you. You can also save yourself $549 by signing up directly through Starlink. But if you want to maximise your Telstra Plus points then signing up via Telstra might just be worth it.
