Starlink dish on a roof

Starlink is cutting $20 per month off all its Residential plans, for the first four months. This drops the price of Starlink's Residential plan capped to 100Mbps down to $49 from $69. This is the cheapest pricing Starlink has run in Australia to date.

Its plan capped at 200Mbps is down to $79 per month (down from $99) while its Max plan (with typical evening speeds up to 320Mbps) is currently $119 per month (down from $139). After the initial four-month period, prices revert to their ongoing cost.

At the time of writing, Starlink's Standard kits are still available as a free rental. The usually $549 kit is your router for getting connected to Starlink's low-earth orbit (LEO) satellites. Rather than forking out hundreds up front, you'll only need to pay $19 in shipping and GST to get started.

Here's a look at Starlink's Residential plans:

Starlink Residential Max

  • Satellite Download Speeds: Up to 400+ Mbps (typically 170-320 Mbps) Upload Speeds: 20-40 Mbps
  • Unlimited Data
$150/mth
Min. cost $150

Starlink's hardware is designed to be self-installed. You can add on professional installation starting from $140. This is discounted by 50% when you sign up for its 200Mbps plan and is free with the Max plan.

Professional installation could be worth it because it's illegal to do your own fixed cabling in Australia. While the Starlink modem lives inside your home the dish itself naturally needs to be outside.

The satellite provider's Residential plans are discounted until June 1.

Note: This deal may not be available in all areas. Starlink may impose a demand surcharge in certain areas. This can range between $295 and $1,295 depending on the location. Before you check out on Starlink's website, you'll get an exact quote for your address.
