Amazon's video streaming service - Amazon Prime Video - appears to making select content available to Australian users, leading to speculation that a local launch could be imminent. As first noted by EFTM last night, Australian users can now sign up for Amazon Prime Video, using an Australian credit card and Australian billing address, and access previously geoblocked content.

That being said,  Amazon doesn't appear to be launching in Australia yet, but allowing U.S. and U.K. subscribers to keep watching select content while travelling to territories where Amazon Prime Video isn't available. As such, the library Australian subscribers can access is much smaller, and mostly consists of Amazon Original Series. On the other hand, Amazon Original Series such as Transparent and Mozart In The Jungle aren't available to stream, as Stan owns the local rights to those shows.

Notably, The Grand Tour Amazon's latest original, featuring former the Top Gear crew - is currently available to Australians using Amazon Prime Video.

Since Amazon Prime Video hasn't official launched in Australia, you'll be limited to watching through a web browser for the time being; the Amazon Prime Video app isn't available through Australian app stores. It is however possible to make an American iTunes or Google Play account to access the app, if you're happy jumping through a few hoops.

Amazon Prime Video is available for USD$8.99 per month, and is also included with a yearly Amazon Prime Membership, billed at USD$99 per annum. A 30 day free trial is available for new subscribers.

Amazon is expected to launch its online store in Australia in September next year, with an offering encompassing tech, toys, groceries, clothing, and office supplies.
