Sibling telcos Internode and iiNet are both slashing $10 per month from their fastest NBN plans. This means you can save $10 per month on NBN 100, NBN 250, and NBN 1000 plans with either provider for their first 12 months. The plans are contract-free, so you're always able to leave after your discount expires.
Here are iiNet's discounted plans:
And here are Internode's:
Both iiNet and Internode have identical pricing for NBN 100 plans but iiNet reports faster typical evening speeds. It advertises speeds of 95Mbps during busy hours, while Internode advertises 85Mbps.
Internode is $5 per month cheaper when it comes to NBN 250 and NBN 1000 plans, where both providers report evening speeds of 200Mbps. The pair have said these are placeholder values until they have enough real world usage data from customers, however.
NBN 250 and NBN 1000 plans are only available to customers connecting to the NBN via FTTP and HFC. All FTTP customers can get either plan, but only 70% of HFC customers can get NBN 250 speeds, and only 7% can get NBN 1000.
If you're looking at NBN 100 plans, it's also worth considering a few alternatives. While iiNet and Internode's discounts are welcome, there are also cheaper options you could take a look at.
Superloop, for example, is offering a $15 per month discount on its NBN 100 plan, bringing it down to $74.95 per month for your first half-year with the provider. Even at full price, you're still only paying the same price as Internode and iiNet's discounted rate. Superloop reports typical evening speeds of 90Mbps, putting it smack bang between Internode and iiNet. Superloop's plan is also contract-free.
SpinTel is worth considering if you'd rather avoid timed discounts. You'll pay $84.95 per month for an unlimited NBN 100 plan with typical evening speeds of 90Mbps.
