If you're a fan of Kogan you'll already know that this homegrown Aussie retailer is a great place to find deals on just about anything money can buy. But did you know that includes NBN plans?
It's true, this cut-price retailer also offers some of the cheapest NBN plans on the Australian market. Here's the low-down on what the plans are, what you get with them and how they compare.
Who is Kogan Internet?
Kogan Internet is one part of a suite of Australian businesses running under the Kogan banner. These businesses include the retail website Kogan.com, Dick Smith Electronics, Kogan Mobile, the booking website Kogan Travel, and others.
Kogan says its brand is all about providing value to customers, and the business has built its reputation on low prices across a wide range of products.
Kogan NBN plans
Kogan Internet offers a choice of three NBN plans. Each plan is contract-free and comes with unlimited data. The only difference is speed:
- NBN 25 (Standard) speed - best for small households of 1-2 people
- NBN 50 (Standard Plus) speed - best for medium-size households of 3-4 people
- NBN 100 (Premium) speed - best for larger households of 5+ people as well as anyone who regularly downloads or uploads large files
Kogan NBN plans are competitive on price across all three speed tiers, and can always be found among the cheapest on the market.

And here's how Kogan NBN plans compare to plans with NBN 100 speeds and unlimited data:
One of the great things about Kogan NBN plans is that they're contract-free. And while other major suppliers charge set-up fees for no contract plans, Kogan plans don't make you pay upfront.
Because the service is no contract, you can leave at any time if you're not happy. And with Kogan Internet you can also BYO modem, or buy one from them for $69 if you wish.
What makes Kogan NBN plans different?
Because Kogan NBN plans are no contract, you can jump ship anytime if you find a better offer. But it's less likely you'll need to thanks to Kogan Internet's Price Pledge. If you find a better price on the same plan from an approved major provider, Kogan will cut your monthly plan fees by double the difference. That means if you find an identical plan that's $5 cheaper than your Kogan NBN plan, Kogan should give you $10 off.
There are, of course, a few caveats. Kogan says approved major providers covered by this offer are Telstra, Optus, TPG, Dodo, iiNet, iPrimus and Internode. To redeem the discount the cheaper plan must exactly match the plan you are on, which means it must be the same speed tier, come with unlimited data, no contract, no early exit fees, etc. You also need to have been a Kogan NBN customer for at least one month before you can claim the discount.
Finally, the Price Pledge discount, once redeemed, will last you for three months and can't be claimed again.
You can also earn Qantas Frequent Flyer points on your monthly Kogan Internet bill. You will earn one point per $2 spend with Kogan every month, but you must link your Kogan account with your Frequent Flyer account to be eligible.
How to sign up to a Kogan NBN plan
Your home or business will need to be NBN ready before you can sign up for a Kogan NBN plan.
Once the NBN is live in your area, simply place an order through the Kogan website. If Kogan is your first NBN provider, it will organise a time for a time and date for a technician to come out and get you connected.
If you're already connected to the NBN, switching from one provider to another is simple. Just make sure you haven't signed an extended contract with your current provider, otherwise you may be hit with early exit fees.
In most cases, switching from one NBN service to another involves minimal downtime for your internet connection – between thirty minutes to one hour. While this depends on the technology your home uses to connect to the NBN, it's possible to be connected to your NBN provider on the same day that you place your order.
However, it's worth noting that you will be responsible for cancelling your old service. After your new NBN connection is live, be sure to contact your old provider and cancel your plan.
