Fergus Halliday is a journalist and digital content editor at WhistleOut Australia. He’s written about technology, telecommunications, gaming and more for over a decade. He got his start writing in high school before interning at magazines like CRN Australia and freelancing for publications like the AU Review, Gizmodo, Kotaku, GamesHub, Press Start, ScreenRant, Superjump, Nestegg, and more.
Fergus became the editor of PC World Australia in 2017. He later contributed to WhistleOut’s sister site Reviews.org Australia as a freelancer before officially joining the team in 2022.
Throughout his career as a journalist, Fergus has covered international technology trade shows like CES, Computex, IFA and Mobile World Congress. He’s also appeared on podcasts, television and radio as a technology expert, and accrued acclaim for his coverage of the consumer technology and gaming industries.
In 2024, he won Best Gaming Journalist at the IT Journalism Awards and Most Controversial Writer at the 2024 Consensus IT Writers Awards. In 2025, he won Best Investigative Writer at the 2025 Consensus IT Writers Awards and was a highly-commended finalist for the Helen Dancer Best Consumer Technology Journalist award at the 2025 IT Journalism Awards. At the 2026 IT Journalism Awards, he won Best Gaming Journalist for a second time following an investigation into the history of game guides published on Aftermath.
