As is typical in Australia, there are also some winning films that haven't made it to streaming services, or even cinemas in Australia, for that matter.

The Pitt

- Best Television Series - Drama - The Pitt
- Best Male Actor in a Television Series - Noah Wyle
The Pitt might be a medical drama set in an emergency department starring Noah Wyle, created by ER writer R. Scott Gemmill, but that's where the similarities with ER end. Wait, no scratch that. ER and The Pitt have now both won the Golden Globe for Best Television Series in the Drama category. Noah Wyle has also won Best Male Actor in the Drama category, an award ER co-star Anthony Edwards took home back in 1998 - the same year Noah Wyle himself was nominated for Best Actor in a Supporting Role for his work on ER.
So I guess The Pitt actually has a lot in common with ER. In that case, if you liked ER, check out The Pitt on HBO Max.

Ricky Gervais: Mortality

- Best Performance in Stand-Up Comedy - Ricky Gervais: Mortality
Introduced in 2024, the Golden Globe for the Best Performance in Stand-Up Comedy on Television has been a controversial category from the jump. Mostly thanks to the fact that it seems to favour big names over the specials comedy fans are actually watching. This year, for example, the nominees were Bill Maher: Is Anyone Else Seeing This?, Brett Goldstein: The Second Best Night of Your Life, Kevin Hart: Acting My Age, Kumail Nanjiani: Night Thoughts, Sarah Silverman: Postmortem and Ricky Gervais: Mortality. It was the latter, former Golden Globes host Ricky Gervais, who took the award home this year.

If I Had Legs, I'd Kick You

- Best Female Actor in a Motion Picture - Musical or Comedy - Rose Byrne
Australia wasn't short of representation at this year's Golden Globes. Jacob Elordi was nominated for his performances in Guillermo del Toro's Frankenstein and the Amazon Prime miniseries, The Narrow Road to the Deep North. Two-time Golden Globe winner, Sarah Snook, was nominated for her lead role in the Binge series All Her Fault, and Joel Edgerton's leading role in Netflix's Train Dreams earned him a nomination for Best Male Actor in the Drama category.
However, it was Australia's beloved Rose Byrne who took home a shiny statue on the night. Byrne won the award for Best Female Actor in the Comedy and Musical category, thanks to her lead role in If I Had Legs I'd Kick You. The Golden Globes have a funny idea of what's classified as a comedy, because while it has a few laughs, If I Had Legs I'd Kick You is also a nail-biting psychological thriller with the relentless pace of Uncut Gems. Byrne plays Linda, a therapis with the weight of the world on her shoulders, who experiences extreme misfortune again and again.
