Unlike competing streaming services like HBO Max, there aren’t a lot of deals out there for Amazon Prime Video itself. That’s because Amazon Prime Video is kind of already a deal, one of many included perks that come with a regular Amazon Prime subscription. With that said, there are a couple of ways you can avoid paying full price.
Amazon Prime Video 30-day free trial
Amazon Prime Video offers one of the more generous free trials on the market. New customers can try Amazon Prime (and thus Prime Video) for 30 days without paying a cent. If you don’t cancel before 30 days is up, you will be charged $9.99 for your first month automatically.
If you really didn’t plan on paying for Prime Video, make sure you set yourself a calendar reminder to cancel 30 days (or 29 days to be safe) from the moment you sign up.
Amazon Prime Video annual discount
If you’ve already tried out Amazon Prime Video and you like what you see, you can save over 30% if you sign up for a year instead of paying month to month. Paid monthly, Prime Video costs $9.99 per month (plus an extra $2.99 per month if you want to remove ads). That amounts to $120 over the course of the year. If you pay upfront for an entire year of Amazon Prime, it only costs you $79. That’s roughly 34% off and a saving of $41.

What other perks do you get with an Amazon Prime Video subscription?
An Amazon Prime Video membership and an Amazon Prime membership are one and the same. They can’t be purchased separately. So Prime Video members get all the shopping perks of Amazon Prime and Amazon Prime subscribers can access shows like Gen V, Reacher and The Summer I Turned Pretty as part of their membership. But those aren’t the only two Amazon Prime perks. You also get access to music streaming via Amazon Music Prime ebooks via Prime Reading, and an included Twitch channel subscription and free monthly games via Prime Gaming.

If you’re the type of person who likes to keep their subscriptions on a single bill, you can subscribe to a number of additional streaming services through Prime Video channels. This simplifies payments while allowing you to stream content from Apple TV+, Paramount+, Hayu, MGM+, Shudder, DocPlay and more through the Prime Video app.
While there don’t appear to be any exclusive Prime Video channel discounts at the time of writing, services like AMC+ have been heavily discounted through Prime Video channels in the past.
