Disney and FX have announced that The Bear’s fifth and final season will officially premiere in June. The announcement came hot on the heels of the surprise prequel special titled Gary, which is available to stream now on Disney Plus. Carmy and his crew have been through a lot, so if you’re not up to date and want to keep things spoiler-free, close this tab now, Chef.
When does The Bear Season 5 release in Australia?
Fans of the series already know that The Bear is strictly exclusive to Disney Plus in Australia, but you might not know that you can get it cheaper than ever if you can handle a few ad breaks.
Recently, Disney Plus joined the rest of the major streamers in introducing a cheaper, ad-supported plan for $9.99 per month. At the same time, Disney raised its Standard and Premium plans to $17.99 and $24.99 per month, respectively. So at the time of writing, watching a few ads (which honestly sounds awful in a show as tense as The Bear) will save you $8 per month.
What is The Bear Season 5 about?
After the coveted Chicago Tribune review didn't work out as planned, The Bear crew pivoted away from chasing Michelin stars and towards a fancier version of what made The Original Beef a beloved local haunt. Carmy (Jeremy Allen White) began therapy and gained some closure with the awful Chef David (Joel McHale). At the end of the season, Carmy came to the realisation that he can't run the kitchen while in a constant state of distress and eventually stepped down and made amends with both Sydney and Richie.
Season 5 will be The Bear's last. It picks up soon after the end of Season 4, on the morning that Sydney (Ayo Edebiri), Richie (Ebon Moss-Bachrach) and Sugar (Abby Elliot) find out that Carmy has hung up his apron and handed the restaurant over to them. With no Carmy, the trio must work together with the rest of the crew to weather a financial storm and an actual storm.
Four seasons of The Bear and the prequel special Gary are available to stream now on Disney Plus.
