How to live stream tennis online in Australia

If you’re looking for some grand slam tennis action, you’ve come to the right place. From the French Open, to the US Open, Wimbledon and more, we’ve got the low-down on where and how to watch every game, set and match.

Stream Wimbledon in Australia
The Wimbledon Tennis Championships kicked off Monday 1 July and is running right up until Sunday 14 July, 2019. And if you're keen to stream, you can get your coverage from a mix of Kayo and 7plus.

Kayo will offer live ad-free coverage of the Wimbledon championships up to the quarter-finals, followed by replay coverage of the semi-finals and the finals. If you're coming in late to a live game, you can still start watching from the beginning, and Kayo's CourtView feature will allow you to stream more than one court at once.

Meanwhile, 7plus will be offering free streaming of selected Wimbledon matches leading up to the semi-finals, and live free coverage of the semi-finals and the finals.

Read on to learn more about how you can stream with each service.

Kayo

Australia's "Netflix of sports" offers some of the most comprehensive year-round coverage of major tennis events. Kayo Sports coverage includes:

  • Full live coverage of the French Open
  • Live coverage of Wimbledon up to the quarter-finals
  • Replay coverage of Wimbledon semi-finals and finals
  • Full live coverage of the US Open
  • Selected live coverage of the ATP and WTA
  • Selected live coverage of the Davis Cup, the Fed Cup and the Laver Cup

All Kayo content is available on-demand after airing, perfect if you're not able to catch the live stream.

If you’re interested in Kayo, you can sign up for a 14-day free trial before committing to a subscription, which is $25 per month to watch on two simultaneous screens, or $35 per month to watch on three simultaneous screens.

Along with coverage of the tournament itself, Kayo programming covers over 50 other sports including AFL, NRL Super Rugby, cricket, soccer and more. Kayo also comes with a range of unique features designed specifically for sports fans.

There's the option to watch split-screen, so you can keep track of the tennis and other sports events that might be happening at the same time.

For selected tennis events Kayo also offers “CourtView”, which will give you the option to access additional camera streams to tailor-make your own viewing experience.

There's also the "key moments" feature which will help you navigate straight to the hottest moments of a match if you're starting late or catching up on demand.

You can watch Kayo on your TV using an Apple TV (4th generation), Telstra TV, Google Chromecast, or via the Kayo app if you have a smart TV with Android 7.1 or above.

If you prefer to watch on a smaller screen there's an app available for iPhone/iPad as well as Android phones and tablets. Or you can watch on your computer with Google Chrome, Firefox or Safari.

7plus

Channel 7’s free catch-up TV service may no longer be the online home of the Australian Open, but it still has the rights to Wimbledon, for now. Channel 7 will have exclusive rights to air and stream the Wimbledon semi-finals and the finals and will also be airing selected matches from earlier sessions in the tournament.

The Wimbledon Tennis Championships will be held from Monday 1 July - Sunday 14 July, 2019.

7plus is free to watch but you will need to create an account and log in. You can watch on your computer using Google Chrome, Firefox or Microsoft Edge browsers, on your Apple or Android phone or tablet using the 7Plus or 7Sport apps.

You can also get 7plus on your big screen with selected Samsung smart TVs, or with an Apple TV (2015+ generation), Telstra TV, Fetch TV, Foxtel Now Box, Google Chromecast, Play Station 4, Play Station 3 or Xbox One.

9Now

If you want to catch locally played matches for the Davis Cup or the Fed Cup, they should be streaming free of charge via Channel 9’s catch-up service 9Now.

To watch 9 Now, all you need to do is create a free account (if you don't already have one).

You can watch 9 Now on your TV with Apple TV 4th generation, Google Chromecast, Telstra TV, Fetch TV, Freeview Plus, Playstation 4, or using a Sony, LG or Samsung smart TV. You can also watch on an Apple TV 3rd or 2nd generation device, using Airplay via your iPhone or Mac.

If you prefer to watch on a smaller screen there's an app available for iPhone/iPad as well as Android phones and tablets. Or you can watch on your computer using Google Chrome, Safari, Internet Explorer, Firefox or Microsoft Edge.

Foxtel Now

If you're keen on the tennis and you also love your drama, lifestyle and comedy programming, you might want to check out a subscription to Foxtel Now. The digital arm of Australia's pay TV giant streams all the same content as Kayo live and on demand including the French Open, Wimbledon (excluding semi-finals and finals, which will be replay only) and the US Open, and selected coverage of the ATP, WTA, Davis Cup, Fed Cup and the Laver Cup.

Foxtel Now divides its content into "packs", and requires all subscribers to choose a $25 per month "Pop + Lifestyle" starter pack before adding premium packs like sport, which costs an extra $29 per month.

That means you'll be paying a total of $54 per month to watch the tennis. But for your money you'll also get access to a tonne of premium TV, including coveted HBO shows like Game of Thrones, Last Week Tonight with John Oliver, Westworld and more.

You can watch Foxtel Now on your TV using a Foxtel Now box, Telstra TV, Play Station 4, Apple Airplay, or using a Sony, LG or Samsung smart TV. If you prefer to watch on a smaller screen there's an app available for iPhone/iPad as well as Android phones and tablets. You can also watch on your computer using Google Chrome or Safari.
