Vodafone has dropped the price of Sony's entry level Xperia XA to just $199 in the lead up to Christmas. While the Xperia XA will understandably be locked to Vodafone's network, the smartphone previously retailed for $499 locally.
Launched in the middle of the year, the Xperia XA is kitted out with a 5-inch 720p edge-to-edge display that sits flush with its rounded frame. Other hardware includes hardware includes a MediaTek eight-core processor, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of expandable storage, and a 2,300mAh battery. Front and rear cameras measure in at 8MP and 13MP, respectively.
At this stage, Vodafone is only selling the Xperia XA in physical stores.
If you nab the Xperia XA from Vodafone and end up wanting to change network. You'll pay a $50 unlocking fee if you've had the phone for less than six months, and $25 if you've had it more for longer.
For what it's worth, we found the Xperia XA to be a solid basic smartphone that was just a little bit too pricey for what it offered. At $199, it's much better value.
