Vodafone today launched new prepaid plans, adding 35-day expiry to several of its recharges, and offering a choice between more data or included international calls.
The shift to 35-day expiry, up from 28-days, means customers will effectively save about 20% of their phone bill each year, when you consider that a 35 days means you will recharge 10 or 11 times in a year, compared with 13 recharges on plans with 28 day expiry.
While you will find there is no saving each recharge, the benefit adds up to at least $100 each year on a $40 plan, and up to $180 if you were to choose the $60 recharge.
As well, customers can now choose between new Data Combos or Talk Combos.
The Data Combo plans offer generous increases in the included data in the plans, compared with the Prepaid Combo plans that these replace. The three price tiers: $30, $40 and $50 recharges, include 3GB, 9GB and 12GB respectively.
Talk Combo plans have less data (3GB, 6GB and 9GB) but the $40 and $50 plans also include 1000 minutes of calling to either 15 or 25 of the most popular calling countries, and an extra 90 minutes to 58 others. The full list of countries is available on the Vodafone website.
35 day expiry is a unique plan feature (we're not sure we've seen it anywhere else in the world, in fact) but there are still plenty of other plans that compare favourably with the standard plan inclusions and price. As you can see below:
