Ultimate Ears has refreshed its iconic Bluetooth speakers with a sleeker design and new two-toned fabric. While many of the changes found in the Boom 3 and Megaboom 3 are aesthetic, the speakers now feature a "Magic Button" on top that finally lets you pause and resume music without needing to reach for your phone. It can also be used to quick start favourite playlists from Apple Music on iOS or Deezer on Android, with support for additional services coming at a later date.
UE hasn't made too noise about much about sound quality changes, but says the Megaboom 3 does provide deeper bass and improved clarity over its predecessor. Both speakers are now also rated IP67 for water and dust resistant (up from IPX7) and can float.
The Boom 3 and Megaboom 3 will go on sale in September locally, retailing for $199.95 and $299.95 respectively. The Alexa-powered Blast and Megablast will continue to be available as a separate product line.
