Optus is offering double data on all new or recontracting lease plans for the latest iPhones and Samsung Galaxy models until April 15, or until April 30 if you lease a Galaxy S9/S9+. Meanwhile, Telstra is offering big data bonuses, plus Foxtel Now subscriptions and even monthly credits on selected lease plans for latest iPhone, Galaxy, Google Pixel and other phone models until April 30.
If you love having lots of data and were already planning to get a new phone on contract, these are some pretty sweet deals. Bonus data from both telcos means a choice of anywhere between 4GB and 200GB per month with your plan. And you can choose from the following new release smartphones:

Why lease?
Optus leasing and Telstra leasing contracts usually cost up to $10 less per month when compared to the telcos' comparable buy-the-phone contracts. Over 24 months, that's a saving of up to $240.
You can lease for the full 24 months or, after 12 months, you can trade up to a newer phone model - for a $99 fee. That pretty much eats up your savings, but it means you can always have the latest and greatest phone, if that's important to you.
There are some things you should know before sign up. Leasing rather than owning your phone means you miss out on the opportunity to sell the handset when you're done. A two-year-old phone in good condition could potentially resell for more than $240. And if you return the phone damaged you could be liable for some hefty fees. Likewise if you want to cancel your contract early.
But if you love data, you might decide Optus and Telstra's hefty data bonuses, plus Telstra's Foxtel Now inclusions, make leasing worth your while. As long as you can be trusted not to bail on your contract or drop your phone off a balcony!
