Telstra prepaid customers are now able to stream songs through Apple Music without using their data allowance.
Given the smaller data caps typically associated with prepaid plans, unmetered music streaming could be a boon to users hoping to make their monthly allowance last longer.
Telstra post-paid customers have been able to use Apple Music data-free since August this year, but prepaid customers were initially excluded from the offer.
It is however worth noting that Apple Music's video streaming and non-music content will still incur data charges. If you stream too many Taylor Swift music videos, you'll still burn through your data. Also, Apple Music is only data-free when used in Australia.
Optus was the first Australian telco to add data-free music streaming to prepaid plans. At present, Optus prepaid customers have unmetered access to Google Play Music, Spotify, and iHeartRadio.
The Apple Music offer is available to both iPhone and Android users on any Telstra Prepaid Plus plan. Customers don't need to be activate the offer, just download Apple Music and get streaming.
