Apple Music is now unmetered on Boost Music, meaning customers can use the service to stream their favourite songs without eating into their monthly data allowance.
The offer isn't entirely surprisingly, given that Telstra - the network that Boost resells - had a similar promotion since last year. In fact, most of the specifics are the same. As with Telstra, only music is unmetered when streaming through Apple Music on Boost. Video streaming and non-music content will still count towards your data allowance. For reference, streaming an hour-long playlist would typically use around 155MB of data.
While Boost's offer might not be unique, its notable in the sense that Boost is now the only MVNO to allow data-free access to music streaming services. Major telcos including Telstra, Optus, and Virgin have had such offers as a point of difference for a while now, but these have rarely trickled down to smaller providers.
Boost Mobile Founder, Peter Adderton told WhistleOut that he's interested in expanding the telco's range of unmetered content, and would ideally love to be able to offer data-free access to a service like YouTube.
Data-free Apple Music is available on all of Boost's 28-day recharges, starting from $30 a month. You can check out the eligible plans below:
