To make up for its recent outage, Vodafone is offering all mobile customers unlimited data this weekend at no extra cost. From 12.01am April 24 until 11.59pm April 25, Vodafone customers with postpaid or prepaid mobile or mobile broadband services won't have their usage counted toward their monthly data allowance.
The free data available during the weekend will run at max network speeds, unlike the infinite data available on select Vodafone plans. Vodafone prepaid customers with an expired SIM will also be able to get in on the free data weekend, provided they recharged within the last 365 days. The data is only available for use in Australia, however, so Vodafone customers who have managed to get over the ditch to New Zealand for the weekend will miss out.
"As you are aware, we recently experienced an issue that disrupted our 4G network. To say sorry for the impact this caused you, and as a gesture of goodwill, we’re offering you free data all weekend," said Vodafone on its website.
"It's been many years since we’ve experienced a major service interruption, and we are always working to upgrade and improve the resiliency of our network."
The Vodafone outage occurred on April 9, with reports starting around 11am AEST. By 10pm, the telco had restored services.
