Nobody likes an unexpectedly high mobile phone bill. Optus has now changed tact with Optus My Plans, in a move aimed at reducing bill shock and simplifying excess usage charges.

We compare how the major carriers charge for excess usage by comparing plans around the $60 mark with the Samsung Galaxy S4 handset. Our hypothetical scenario is a monthly usage of 800 call minutes and 2GB of data.
