OPPO's latest flagship phones - the Find X9 and Find X9 Pro - will launch locally on November 6. The pair will be available through JB Hi-Fi and OPPO Australia's online store, with no pre-order period ahead of the launch.
Pricing starts at $1,799 for the "standard" Find X9, which is in line with what OPPO was charging for the Find X8 Pro last year. The Find X9 Pro will sell for $2,299, which is a $500 price increase over last year's model.
This release marks the first time OPPO has launched two flagship devices in Australia since the Find X5 family in 2021. Last year, OPPO only launched the "Pro" Find X8 in Australia.
OPPO Australia Managing Director Michael Tran told WhistleOut increased appetite in the market is the reason the company is bringing both devices down under this year.
"After seeing Find X8 Pro last year, there's definitely demand for our products," said Tran. "I'm always looking at everyone's feedback, and I guess everyone's really excited by [the Find X9 series], and I said, 'why don't we bring in two models this year, see how it goes?'"
Speaking about the performance of last year's model, Tran said the company saw consistency in sales across the last 12 months without extra promotion, discounts, or giveaways.
"You can see there's a following happening, and I think [Find X9] will also have a following."
When it comes to the phones themselves, the Find X9 and Find X9 Pro have a few similarities to start. Both are powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9500 chipset, both have batteries over 7,000mAh, and both have flat screens with a bezel of just 1.15mm. Last year's Find X8 Pro had a curved display.
There are a few other shared specifications, including IP69 water resistance (which protects against high-pressure water jets), eSIM support, a faster fingerprint reader, and 512GB of non-expandable storage. The pair also have a new customisable physical button, which OPPO calls the "Snap Key" . This is similar to Apple's Action Button from recent iPhone models, and can be used for tasks like starting a voice recording, turning on the flashlight, or translation.
The Find X9 Pro is the larger of the phones, with a 6.78-inch 1272p+ display with a 120Hz refresh rate. The panel uses LTPO tech, allowing the refresh to drop as low as 1Hz when the screen isn't being used. Battery capacity measures in at 7,500mAh, which OPPO says is enough for two full days of usage.
In terms of cameras, the Find X9 Pro has a 50MP primary lens, 50MP ultra-wide lens, and 200MP 3x telephoto lens. The 3x telephoto lens can take 6x zoom photos at "optical quality" by cropping in on the sensor. These are joined by a 50MP selfie camera.

On top of this, OPPO will sell an optional Hasselblad Teleconverter Kit for $699 (pictured above). This is effectively a camera lens that clips onto the zoom lens through the use of a specialised case. It extends the length of the zoom to over 10x. You'll only be able to get the Teleconverter Kit through OPPO's Australian webstore.
The standard Find X9 has a smaller 6.59-inch 1256p+ display with a 120Hz refresh rate. Unlike the Pro, it does have LTPO technology. As with the display, the battery is also a little smaller with a 7,025mAh cell. OPPO still says this should last for two days.
The Find X9 camera setup is also a little more modest, featuring a 50MP primary lens, 50MP ultra-wide lens, 50MP 3x zoom lens, and 32MP selfie camera. The ultra-wide is identical to that found in the Find X9 Pro, but the primary lens in the Find X9 has a smaller sensor behind it compared to its Pro sibling.
Both the Find X9 and Find X9 Pro will get five major operating system upgrades and six years of security updates. That's in line with last year's Find X8 Pro, but falls a little short of the seven and seven years promised by Samsung and Google on their equivalent flagship devices.
