iPhone 13

If you’re looking to pick up a refurbished iPhone but don't want to buy one outright, Kogan Mobile is now offering select devices on a plan.

The retailer's telco arm is now offering the iPhone XS, iPhone 11, iPhone 12, and iPhone 13 on repayment plans. Customers can pick between "own and pay" plans and subscription plans.

Own and pay plans - as the name suggest - are where you buy the phone but pay it off over 24 months, as you would with a typical iPhone plan. Subscription plans are cheaper, but you have to return the iPhone at some point during the last six months of the 24-month term. They're effectively a lease.

Kogan Mobile's iPhone subscriptions are independent of a mobile plan, but can be bundled with one of the telco's SIM-only offerings. Here's the full range:

If you take up a Kogan mobile plan to go with your refurbished iPhone, you'll get the first month of mobile service for free.

Here's pricing for the refurbished iPhones Kogan Mobile is ranging:

Kogan Mobile refurbished iPhone prices

Own and PaySubscription
iPhone XS $18 per month$15 per month
iPhone 11 $25 per month$20 per month
iPhone 12 $32 per month$28 per month
iPhone 13 $48 per month$40 per month

It's worth noting you won't save much on a refurbished iPhone 13 compared to a new one if you opt for an "own and pay" plan. You'll pay $1,152 over 24 months, which is barely cheaper than the $1,199 a new iPhone 13 retails for at the moment.

Kogan Mobile says its refurbished phones may show minimal signs of wear and tear such as marks on the housing or faint scratches on the screen. The phones are fully functional with at least 80% battery capacity.

Telstra MVNOs Boost Mobile and Belong both also sell refurbished phones, but they currently offer them outright - no plan options are available. numobile offered refurbished phones on plans when it first launched, but no longer does so.
