You’ve probably heard of Apple Care, but what about Samsung Care? The two may share a word, but the services don’t have much more in common.
If you’ve got a shiny new Samsung then you may be wondering about what your options are for protecting the device. For the accident prone, a case can only do so much, and warranties don’t cover accidental damage so what should you do to keep your repair bills down?
Samsung Care Plus presents an interesting opportunity for serial Samsung smashers, but you’ll need to pay for the addition sign. Samsung Care on the other hand is more of a customer service proposition rather than insurance. Read on to find out what you need to know about Samsung Care.

What is Samsung Care?
Samsung Care is Samsung’s priority repair and support service for selected devices. Of course Samsung is a vast company known for making a range of electronics such as phones, fridges, televisions, and even washing machines, but not every device is eligible for Samsung Care.
Phones however, which we’re concentrating on in this article are covered by the service, and opting in to the basic Samsung Care package won’t cost you a thing.

Which devices can get Samsung Care and Samsung Care Plus?
Mobile devices, wearables, and tablets are eligible for Samsung Care, but only some phones are covered on Samsung Care Plus. A Series, S and Note Series, and Z Series devices can be covered under Samsung Care Plus.

What is covered by Samsung Care?
There are three main components that make up Samsung Care; Speed Assured, Instant Response, and Hassle-Free Delivery. However none of these actually cover damage that has been done to your device, instead each component is aimed at making the repair process less painful. Let’s take a closer look at what Samsung Care actually gets you.
Speed Assured
Unsurprisingly, this guarantee is based around getting repairs completed in a timely manner. With Speed Assured, you’ll have a 24-hour repair window for devices such as phones, tablets, wearables, and smart watches.
Naturally there are some caveats, this timeframe is only available on Australian product variants, only available during the Samsung Express Warranty Period, and the 24 hours do not include home delivery of the repaired product.
Instant Response
Instant Response is ultimately a fancy way of saying ‘customer service’. The word ‘instant’ isn’t necessarily accurate as wait times may apply, but Samsung Care does have dedicated customer service online and over the phone.
Contact Samsung over the phone on 1300 362 603, between 8:00am - 8:00pm AEST, or via online chat between 8:00am - 10:00pm AEST.
Hassle-Free Delivery
Provided that you’re within a 30km radius of an authorised Samsung service location, you can get Hassle-Free and cost-free home delivery of your repaired device.
This definitely makes life easier, but there are a few points of note in the small print. Firstly if you’re using a loan device you won’t be able to opt in for Hassle-Free Delivery - the loaner will need to be returned directly to the service location.
Secondly, you can only nominate one drop off address so you’ll need to make sure that you’re where you said you will be.
What is Samsung Care Plus?
Where Samsung Care is the free program based around repair efficiency, Samsung Care Plus is a service that allows you to swap out broken devices for a fee.
With Samsung Care Plus you can swap out your broken phone twice in two years, and pay a swap fee each time on top of the once off subscription fee. Depending on how often you break your phone, and which Samsung device you have opting for Samsung Care Plus can work out well in the end.
How much does Samsung Care Plus cost?
Each eligible device series comes with a different subscription and swap fee;
A Series: $159 coverage, and $149 per swap
S and Note Series: $249 coverage, and $149 per swap
Z Fold and Z Flip Series: $399 coverage, and $299 per swap
We’ve compiled a table below to show how much you could potentially save on a range of Samsung devices if you did decide to go with the Plus program. If you’re prone to breakages, the numbers work out favourably after the second swap.
