We all make new year's resolutions with the best of intentions, but keeping them ain't always easy. The end of January is often a make-or-break for resolutions. It's easy to give up, to get bored, and there's always that public holiday throwing a spanner in the works.
But if you really want to follow through on your resolutions, we've got a few apps that can help with all sorts of goals, as well as few other apps and services we just find useful.
Notion
If endlessly scrolling through TikTok is your jam, you may already be familiar with Notion - a slick little piece of productivity software that can help organise your life that's gone viral. The app offers a central place for to-do lists, journaling, calendars, goal tracking, and expenses. Notion's aesthetic is also highly customisable, so you can genuinely make it feel like your own little space - and then show it off on TikTok like countless teens.
Streaks
Trying to pick up a new habit or break an old? You'll want to check out Streaks, a to-do list with a twist. Pick up to 12 tasks you want to turn into daily habits - for example, going for a run, guitar, or avoiding junk food - and Streaks will keep track of that, and tell you how many times in a row you've avoided breaking your chain. And if there are tasks you don't necessarily want to do every day, Streaks also lets you customise task frequency - like calling your parents once a week.
Headspace
Are wellness pursuits part of your 2021 plan? Headspace is a guided meditation and mindfulness app. You get ten guided meditation sessions for free when you download the app, but after you finish, you'll need to subscribe for more content. Most meditations come in themed packs, dealing with subjects including anxiety, creativity, and self-esteem.
Libby
Trying to read more in 2021? Libby is an app that brings your library to you. As long as you have a library card (and your library supports Libby), you'll be able to access countless ebooks, audiobooks, and magazines for free.
Unroll.me
If you're trying to unclutter your life in 2021, your inbox is a great place to start. Unroll.me is a service that helps you get rid of all those pesky emails from mailing lists that you can't remember subscribing too, but are a little too lazy to do anything about. And if you actually like your daily dose of newsletters, Unroll.me has an iOS app that rolls up all of your subscription emails into a swipeable digest to make them a little more manageable.
Fitbit
Trying to get healthier in 2021? Even if you don’t have a fitness tracker, the Fitbit app is still able to keep track of your daily activity using your smartphone's sensors. You can also use the app for logging your calorie intake and your daily water consumption.
1Password
Trying to free up some headspace? Check out 1Password - one of the best password managers currently available. If you're not familiar with the concept of a password manager, they essentially allow you to create complex, unique passwords for all of your online services, which are then locked in your "vault" behind a master password. Not only do you not have to waste brain capacity remembering passwords, it's an easy way to improve your online security. You'll pay $2.99 USD per month for 1Password, but it's worth it.
Easy Diet Diary
Got a new diet? Easy Diet Diary is a calorie counter designed for Australia, and actually covers food and brands you'll find in local supermarkets. A great way to help keep yourself accountable.
