Service Description

iiNet VDSL broadband plans offer rocketfast speeds and are a high-powered alternative to the nbn®. The VDSL service is a broadband internet service which uses iiNet's own VDSL network to deliver superfast broadband speeds within the ACT. Every iiNet VDSL plan also includes Netphone (VoIP) at no additional cost, offering great rates and included calls.

Equipment Requirement

The modem is $0 when you stay connected for 24 months (Device Period), however you will be required to pay a $10 modem delivery fee. If your plan is cancelled or withdrawn within 24 months of connecting, you will be charged a modem fee of $200. Alternatively, if you return the Modem in Good Working Order within 21 days of your plan being cancelled or withdrawn, iiNet will waive the remaining cost of the Modem.

Phone Service

This plan is bundled with a VoIP service with the following rates and inclusions:

  • Unlimited local and standard national calls
  • Australian Mobile calls: 29c/min
  • 1300/13 numbers: 30c/call untimed

Other Features

  • Tech Support: Customers can get access to 24/7 tech support
  • Usage Information: Customer can obtain information on their usage with Toolbox on iiNet website

Optional Extras:

  • International Call Pack: Calls to landlines in iiNet top 20 international destinations for $10/month

Service Availability

iiNet VDSL2 is only available in selected areas within the ACT. Service availability can be checked using iiNet online coverage calculator at iiNet website.

VDSL2 Speeds: Typical evening speed indicates download speed and is measured between 7pm-11pm. Actual throughput speeds may be slower and could vary due to various factors including interference, customer cabling and equipment, download source, and line length. Upload connection speed is up to 20Mbps.

iiNet NBN quick facts

  • TPG Group comprises companies such as TPG, Vodafone and Internode.
  • iiNet has access to TPG's private fibre network.

Why iiNet?

Most popular iiNet NBN plans

On the hunt for a broadband plan with unlimited data, awesome speed, and great value? iiNet offers a variety of NBN plans, as well as other fixed internet alternatives such as FTTB, VDSL and Cable plans in selected areas, with bundles available to suit every household budget and need.

The provider offers a range of affordable options with both unlimited and capped data on its internet plans.

If you're signing on for iiNet broadband, your plan may also include unlimited calls to Australian landlines, or both landlines and mobiles. All base iiNet NBN and broadband plans feature pay-as-you-go calling, and customers can also add an international call pack for $10 per month, featuring unlimited calls to landlines in 20 countries.

Types of iiNet plans

NBN

Sign up with iiNet NBN, and you can pick between a range of set NBN speed tiers. Which speed you can get, and what will work best for your family will depend entirely on you, but you can find more info about NBN's speed options here.

If you're searching for a good deal on an NBN plan, iiNet's fixed-line options come with a choice of data inclusions which can help keep costs down. Not every household actually needs an unlimited connection so you can always check on your monthly usage to see what will work best for you.

To find out if you're eligible for an iiNet NBN plan, first check your address in our internet search engine. If your home is covered by iiNet, all available plans will be listed in the search results.

Decide on the right plan for you, then contact iiNet either online or via phone. iiNet will help you to organise an installation date and time, plus take care of transferring any current broadband plan you may have over to their own NBN service.

If you already have an NBN connection with another provider, that's no problem - simply follow the same steps as above, by contacting iiNet and arranging a service transfer.

Another important thing to note: while installation is free for most customers (excluding the upfront costs you'll pay on a month-to-month plan), if you're located in a newly developed area with no existing telecommunications infrastructure, you may be charged a $300 New Development Fee by NBN Co.

iiNet FAQ

How fast are iiNet's NBN plans?

Typical evening speeds vary depending on provider, but iiNet sits within the middle of the pack. The typical evening speed is an estimate of how fast you can expect your connection to run during the busiest internet hours of the day, but keep in mind that other aspects may effect your connection speeds. You can find more information on NBN speeds here.

What are my data options?

iiNet plans come with a variety of data options, all which vary depending on your connection type. While many providers have done away with capped data limits, this option allows customers to save some money month to month.

Do I need to buy a new modem to sign up to iiNet?

If you already have a NBN-ready modem or router that is suitable for your technology type, you may be able to use it with your iiNet plan; however, some NBN services require a new modem.

Contract customers will receive this ready-to-go modem free at installation, but if you're on a month-to-month plan, you'll need to pay an upfront fee.

What happens if I want to cancel my iiNet NBN plan?

If you're on a no-contract iiNet plan, you're free to cancel or switch at any time without penalty. If you are on a 6 month contract – want to cancel before the period ends, you will need to pay a break fee.
