You’ve most likely seen other awards online, or speckling your supermarket shelves, but one award you may not have noticed is a WhistleOut Award badge on your telco’s website - and that is the one you really want to see.

The WhistleOut Awards are a series of awards specifically for Australian telcos that provide consistently great value for consumers. The WhistleOut Awards badge is a trustworthy sign that a provider will offer you a competitive deal, and save you money on your mobile or internet bill.

#1: The WO Awards are judged by experts

Where some awards are based on consumer sentiment, and some are even paid for, the WhistleOut Awards are judged against a set of rigirous critera by our team of telecommunications experts. 

In case you’ve never heard of WhistleOut, we’re Australia’s only comparison site focused solely on internet and mobile phone plans. We spend every day comparing the plans of Australia's mobile phone and internet providers in order to find, and recommend the best value out there.

Each month our team of experts, who live, breath, and sometimes dream about telco consolidate the best value plans in a range of categories into our Editor’s Picks. You can trust that this team of specialists have scrupulously examined every one of our award winners to ensure the best provider prevails. 

#2: Our Awards are based on consistency

Consistency is key, and we believe that a telco can’t be rewarded an annual award for a once off. Consequently, our judging isn’t just a once off assessment, we spend the entire year evaluating plans and awarding points to providers based on how they rank. 

The WhistleOut Award categories for phone and internet plans are judged by awarding 3, 2 and 1 points to the providers of the three best plans in each category on a monthly basis. The winner, and runners-up will be the top two scoring telcos within each category.

When it comes to our six phone awards, these are judged by our editorial experts who review the majority of new phones over the past 12 months. Our key considerations include price, performance, battery, screen, design, camera and overall user experience.

The only exception? Our two awards for Best Promotion on a Mobile and Internet plan are awarded for a once-off stellar promo deal that could have been active at any time during the financial year.

#3: We focus on value for money

Value for money is an absolute key decider when it comes to judging our Award winners. When assessing plans each month, we look at how much these plans will cost you annually, and how substantial the discount is compared to others in the market.

Telco is a confusing industry, and one that we are all at the mercy of - it can be difficult to figure out who you can trust. At the end of the day, while the WhistleOut Awards go to telecommunications organisations our mission is to help every Australian make better telco decisions.
