New TPG customers can now score a modem at no extra cost when they sign up for an NBN plan with the provider.
TPG is now bundling the same WiFi 7 modem available on its sibling brands - iiNet and Vodafone's - NBN plans. The modem is technically called the Arcadyan HWG2025, but sold by each provider rebranded. iiNet calls it the iiNet WiFi Max, for example.
On TPG, it’s the TPG WiFi Max, and is available for $0 upfront as an add-on if you go with any of TPG’s NBN plans. It’s also the same modem that TPG offer for their 5G home internet plans.
If you leave within the first 24 months and fail to return the modem, you’ll need to fork out $200, so the ‘free’ router is contingent on you sticking with TPG during that time.
Previously, TPG was charging customers an upfront fee for its old modem add-on.
Whatever NBN speed tier you’re on, the TPG WiFi Max router should be up for the task. It’s built with NBN 2000 plans and WiFi 7 devices in mind, and in our review we found it capable of offering fast and reliable download and upload speeds, even with multiple devices connected.
If your NBN drops out for any reason, this router has mobile backup, so you can activate wireless hotspotting through your phone when the internet is down. This uses your phone's mobile plan.
