Internode and iiNet have joined the likes of Superloop and Aussie Broadband in offering customers NBN plans with speeds faster than 100Mbps. Subscribers of either telco can now pick from NBN 250 and NBN 1000 plans, in addition to more traditional speed tiers.

If you're looking at NBN 1000, the Internode plan will set you back $149.99 per month, while iiNet is a touch more expensive at $154.99 per month. Both providers report typical evening speeds of 200Mbps, which is a little slower than 250Mbps that is fairly standard for the speed tier.

For example, Aussie Broadband and Superloop both charge $149 for NBN 1000 plans and report 250Mbps, when you exclude promotional discounts. Superloop's NBN 1000 plan has a 3TB data limit however. If you exceed this, you'll get capped at speeds of 100Mbps. Superloop is currently offering a $20 per month discount for your first six months.

It is however worth noting that in the case of Internode and iiNet, these evening speeds are just estimates. The providers will offer more accurate guidance after they've collected enough real world performance data.

When it comes to NBN 250 plans, Internode is charging $129.99 per month, while iiNet's is again $5 per month more expensive. Once again, you're looking at typical evening speeds of 200Mbps, but the pair say this is just an estimate. When you exclude promotional pricing, MyRepublic has the cheapest NBN 250 plan around, but only reports typical evening speeds of 150Mbps.

Both Internode and iiNet's NBN 250 and NBN 1000 plans are contract-free.

NBN 250 and NBN 1000 plans are only available to customers connecting to the NBN via FTTP and HFC. All FTTP customers can get either plan, but only 70% of HFC customers can get NBN 250 speeds, and only 7% can get NBN 1000.

Internode's and iiNet's NBN 250 and NBN 1000 plans will only appear on the telco's website to customers who enter an address that supports these kind of connection speeds.

NBN Co intends to upgrade the HFC portion of the network to ensure all customers can sign-up for an NBN 250 plan by June 2021.
