
NBN Co has published new insights that show Queenslanders have the highest average data downloads per user for the third year in a row.
As of June 2025, the average Queensland user downloaded 542GB per month. Tasmania had the lowest usage in the country with the average user downloading 447GB per month.

Average monthly data downloads per customer rose across all technologies nationally to 557GB, a 13% increase on the previous year.
NBN also revealed some statistics following the September 2025 Accelerate Great initiative. By December 31, 2025 41% of NBN's customers were on wholesale plans of speeds from 100Mbps or above (an increase from 28% in December 2024). 31% were on speeds of 500Mbps or above (an increase from just 3% in December 2024).
Insights from Ember Advisors, commissioned by NBN Co, looked at the social benefits of digital inclusion.
Their report found that:
- 43% of NBN plan users surveyed used their home internet for telehealth, up from 34% in FY23
- 21% of NBN plan users surveyed used their home internet for studying from home, up from 12% in FY23
- 38% of NBN plan users surveyed used their home internet for working from home at least one day a week, up from 31% in FY23
- 91% of NBN plan users surveyed used their home internet for connecting with family or friends, up from 88% in FY23
