Telstra's budget brand Belong is selling an NBN 1000 plan, marking the first time it has offered plans faster than 100Mbps.
Belong's NBN 1000 plan is priced at $110 per month, but it is currently running a launch offer where new customers will pay $90 per month for the first six months. Belong reports typical evening speeds of 815Mbps on the plan, which is in line with Telstra. Here are the details:
NBN 1000 plans are only available for HFC and FTTP customers.
While Belong's NBN 1000 plan is cheaper than Telstra's NBN 1000 offering ($105 for the first six months and $139 thereafter), it sits in the middle of the road, more broadly speaking. There are cheaper providers like Southern Phone who charge $95 per month at full price, as well as more expensive options like Tangerine at $119.90 per month at full price.
Here's how the cheapest NBN 1000 plans in our database compare:
Belong's NBN 1000 plan is light on extras, but customers get an $80 SIM card when signing up. This can cover just over two months of mobile service on Belong's cheap SIM-only plan if you're also looking to change mobile providers.
Belong's NBN 1000 launch comes as part of the NBN speed upgrades that have also seen new faster speed tiers like NBN 2000 introduced. While NBN 1000 plans didn't get a bump in download speed as part of the upgrades, upload speeds have doubled to a maximum of 100Mbps. In addition, Belong is now selling an NBN 500 for FTTP and HFC customers.
