The ACCC has released its 29th Measuring Broadband Australia report, ranking Telstra the fastest NBN provider. This is just the second time Telstra has topped the report, with the telco scoring its first first-place finish in June last year.
The new report found Telstra customers receive 104.6% of their NBN plan's maximum speeds during the busiest hours of the day (between 7pm and 11pm on Monday to Friday).
Previous winner Exetel is back in second place, with its customers found to 103.7% of plan speeds during busy hours. Optus follows in third, with 103% of plan speeds in busy hours.
The report monitors 11 telcos, including Aussie Broadband, Dodo, Exetel, iiNet, iPrimus, Leaptel, Optus, Telstra, TPG, Superloop, and Vodafone. Launtel was previously featured in the report, but is no longer.

The report found that busy hour speeds for fixed-line NBN are faster yet again. Customers achieved 101.6% of their plans' download speeds during busy hours, up from 101.1% last quarter.
Compare NBN 50, NBN 100, NBN 250, and NBN 1000 plans from the providers in this report:
The Measuring Broadband Report also includes Fixed Wireless NBN plans. The average busy hour download speed for Fixed Wireless Plus plans were slightly down from last quarter. They fell from 93.3Mbps to 91.9Mbps.
The report also found that customers on the new Fixed Wireless speed tiers achieved download speeds of 166.2Mbps during busy hours on Fixed Wireless Fast, and 283.5Mbps on Fixed Wireless Superfast. For comparison, Starlink customers achieved an average of 170.2Mbps.
As always, it's worth remembering the scale of the ACCC's testing. The results come from a month-long testing period in March across 1,150 NBN connections. All but 94 of these households have a connection with one of the 11 providers featured in the report. The ACCC reports a 95% confidence level in its results.
