Stuck tossing up between internet providers? We get it - it’s a minefield out there. When it comes to broadband providers there are so many more than just Telstra, Optus, and TPG. Smaller internet providers are sometimes a better choice. They can be cheaper, faster, less complex, or maybe they offer something that the big ones don’t.

Either way, Superloop and Aussie Broadband are some big fish in the smaller pond. In this guide, we'll look at how their NBN plans stack up.

Aussie Broadband vs. Superloop: Typical evening speeds

Typical evening speeds refer to the download speeds you can expect during peak usage times on the NBN - between 7pm and 11pm. The more people using the network, the less capacity is available which results in lower speeds.

Superloop and Aussie Broadband are among the fastest NBN providers around. Here's how they stack up against each other in terms of typical evening speeds on the NBN.

	NBN 12	NBN 25	NBN 50	NBN 100	NBN 250	NBN 1000
Superloop	-	22Mbps	48Mbps	95Mbps	240Mbps	600Mbps
Aussie Broadband	12Mbps	25Mbps	50Mbps	100Mbps	250Mbps	600Mbps

Aussie Broadband is just a touch faster than Superloop on almost every speed tier, but tends to be more expensive. The one exception is NBN 1000 plans, where both providers promise typical evening speeds of 600Mbps. 600Mbps is currently the fastest advertised typical evening speed on any NBN 1000 plan in the market.

For comparison, here are the 10 fastest providers on NBN 100 plans.

Aussie Broadband vs. Superloop: Data limits

Aussie Broadband

All of Aussie Broadband’s popular NBN plans come with unlimited data, but if you want to reduce your monthly bill, you can opt for a 100GB or 500GB allowance on most plans.

Dropping down to a 500GB plan will save you $4 per month compared to the equivalent unlimited option, while dropping down to 100GB will save you $9 per month. In most cases, we'd say you'd want at least 500GB.

If you're looking at NBN 12, NBN 250, or NBN 1000, unlimited data is your only option.

Superloop

Every Superloop NBN plan has unlimited data.

Aussie Broadband vs. Superloop: Contracts

Every Aussie Broadband and Superloop NBN plan is contract-free.

Aussie Broadband vs. Superloop: Customer service

Aussie Broadband

Aussie Broadband has Australia-based support available between 8am and midnight (AEST), every day other than Christmas and Good Friday.

Aussie Broadband vs Superloop: Extras

Aussie Broadband

Aussie Broadband doesn't have too much in the way of extras, but does have a small number of bundle options that package together its NBN plans with its mobile plans. These are as follows:

NBN 100 plan + 40GB mobile plan: $129 per month ($10 per month saving)
NBN 100 plan + 2x 40GB mobile plans: $164 per month ($15 per month saving)
NBN 250 plan + 2x 220GB 5G mobile plans: $254 per month ($25 per month saving)

Here are Aussie Broadband's mobile plans:

Superloop

Superloop NBN plans on NBN 50, NBN 100, and NBN 250 speed tiers include five free speed boosts each month. Using a speed boost will change your plan to the next available speed tier for 24 hours, provided your technology type supports it. From NBN 50 to NBN 100, for example.

You can bank up to 30 unused speed boosts, or purchase more for $2 per day.

Superloop also offers a discount on its NBN plans if you pair it with one of its SIM-only mobile plans. You'll save $5 per month with your first mobile plan, and an extra $2.50 per month for each additional plan, up to a maximum discount of $15 per month.
