How we judge this award

Delivered by rooftop antenna rather than cable, nbn Fixed Wireless Plus plans are what this award evaluates, often the fastest option available to households outside the standard fibre and cable footprint.

Cost is based on the total 12 month price of the plan weighed against its data and speed tier, recognising that fixed wireless customers typically have fewer competing providers locally, so annual cost matters more than a headline monthly figure.

Inclusions are checked against a fixed list of nine possible extras, each contributing one point: a bundled home phone service, positive network satisfaction findings, a modem supplied with no cancellation penalty, a bundle discount, support based in Australia, 24/7 technical support, a complimentary speed boost, streaming or subscription perks, and any other bonus inclusion, with a modem supplied at no cancellation cost carrying particular relevance since equipment and installation weigh more heavily on a fixed wireless service than a standard nbn connection.

Speed is assessed using performance measurements specific to fixed wireless technology, which can shift with distance from the transmission tower and local network congestion.

Customer support is scored against eight distinct service channels: a physical store presence, phone support, live chat, email or message based support, an active and responsive social media or forum presence, round the clock support availability, weekend support hours, and self service account management online, one point per channel offered.

Customer sentiment, drawn from ratings and reviews submitted by verified customers of the plan and its provider, completes the five measures. These combine to decide the Ranking.
