This morning, Disney announced that Australia and New Zealand will get a third, ad-supported Disney Plus plan in the coming months, joining the chorus of streamers who are making ads happen again.
The new Standard with Ads plan will offer most of what Standard offers, HD 1080p streaming on two devices at once, but with no downloads for offline viewing, ad breaks and an "attractive price point".
Disney hasn't confirmed what that price will be, or whether it will raise the pricing of Standard and Premium to make it even more "attractive", but we'll find out more in the next few months.
Currently, Disney Plus Standard and Premium cost $15.99 and $20.99 per month, respectively. Standard offers ad-free HD 1080p streaming on two devices with downloads on up to 10 devices for offline viewing. Premium offers 4K/HDR streaming on four devices at once with Dolby Atmos audio for those with compatible devices.
How to avoid a price hike
There's plenty to look forward to on Disney Plus in 2026, and if you're a regular subscriber, you might be concerned about the rising cost of streaming.
Disney hasn't confirmed whether the prices of Standard and Premium will increase when the new ad-supported plan is launched. However, in the event of a price hike, you can secure cheaper pricing for a year with a Disney Plus Yearly Plan. For example, for a year of Disney Plus Standard, you will pay $159.99 upfront. That works out to roughly $13.35 per month. A year of Disney Plus Premium will cost $209.99 upfront, working out at roughly $17.49 per month. Here's how much each annual plan will save you over the year.
| Plan | Anuual Cost | Saving | More |
|---|---|---|---|
| Disney Plus Standard | $159.99 per year | $31.89 per year | View Plan |
| Disney Plus Premium | $209.99 per year | $41.89 per year | View Plan |
