If you're seeking to expand your cinematic horizons, watching the Academy Award (Oscar) winners is a great place to start.
Below, we've sorted all the winners of the 2026 Academy Awards by streaming service, as some streaming services, like HBO Max, host multiple award-winning movies. As is typical in Australia, there are some winning films that haven't made it to streaming services yet.

One Battle After Another is almost three hours long, but it doesn't feel like it. It moves along at a clip. You wouldn't have time to find the pause button even if you wanted to.
As expected, One Battle After Another cleaned up at the Oscars this year, taking home six awards on the night, including Best Picture, Best Director and the inaugral Best Casting award.

The bartender gives the young man a challenge: if he can out-sing the pub regulars, the bartender will give him $100 and a six-pack of beer. Thus begins a spontaneous and cathartic singing contest.

Avatar: Fire and Ash

- Best Visual Effects - Avatar: Fire and Ash, Joe Letteri, Richard Baneham, Eric Saindon and Daniel Barrett
Jimmy Cameron might be quickly regretting his decades-long commitment to the Avatar series but the series' fancy visual effects are still winning over the Academy's judges. Avatar: Fire and Ash continues the story of Na'vi convert Jake Sully (Worthington) and his family on Pandora. When the volcano-dwelling Varang teams up with (spoilers) Avatar-ised Colonel Miles Quaritch (Lang), the series becomes more of a civil war, rather than an intergalactic struggle between humans and Na'vi.

Mr Nobody Against Putin

- Best Documentary Feature Film - Mr. Nobody Against Putin by David Borenstein, Pavel Talankin, Helle Faber and Alžběta Karásková
BAFTA winner Mr. Nobody Against Putin took home the award for Best Documentary Feature Film at the 2026 Oscars. The stakes alone are worthy of recognition. Early in the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the Kremlin orchestrated and enforced a "state-friendly" curriculum. Rather than simply falling in line, one school videographer from Karabash Primary School, Pavel "Mr. Nobody" Talankin, documents the attempted brainwashing of school children over the next two years. It's an utterly terrifying first-person view of Russia's transformation from authoritarionism to full-blown fascism.
