While Foxtel's Kayo Sports has remained the king of sport streaming since it launched in late 2018, DAZN continues to grow in popularity, particularly for its combat sports offering.
Also backed by Foxtel giants, DAZN rivals Kayo's content, but how does it compare on price, device compatibility and streaming quality? Keep reading as we break down which is better and how.

Kayo Sports vs. DAZN: Price and packages
Kayo
Kayo pricing is simple. Either pay $29.99 per month for Full HD access for one device or $45.99 per month for 4K UHD access for two devices. It's a huge jump in price between Kayo Standard vs Premium but both are ad-free and gain subscribers access to all sports. There's no preferential treatment of what you can and can't watch between the two tiers.
No, Kayo Sports no longer offers a free trial for new subscribers.
Despite not having a free trial, Kayo deals and discounts run every so often to save new and re-subscribing viewers money off their subscription.
- Watch in full HD or 4K on up to two devices
- Valued at $29.99 per month
- Watch 15,000 hours of exclusive ad-free sports live and on-demand
DAZN
DAZN is a little more complicated with its pricing breakdown. Firstly, you can choose between DAZN Standard, starting at $24.99 per month or DAZN Ultimate, starting at $39.99 per month.
We say starting because depending on which one you choose, you can then pick how to break down your payments.
DAZN Standard customers can pay either flexibly per month or on an annual contract (billed either monthly or up-front).
DAZN Ultimate customers will be locked into an annual contract automatically, however, they can still choose to pay either monthly or up-front for the year.
While DAZN's up-front annual plans are hefty, they carry the most savings. Below is the breakdown of all DAZN Standard (left) vs DAZN Ultimate (right) payment options and the potential savings they offer*.

*Pricing correct as of August 25 2026.
All in all, DAZN is cheaper than Kayo, but that's likely due to its smaller content offering. It also offers a more flexible payment scheme for saving money each month and annual options but, similar to Kayo, has no free trial.
Kayo Sports vs. DAZN: Content
Kayo
Kayo is known for having the widest range of sports available. Since Foxtel shares its broadcasting rights, subscribers get access to over 50 sports, some normal like American Football, AFL, Cricket, F1, Golf and Tennis and some specialty, like Darts, E-Sports, Rodeo and Squash. To make sure it truly has something for everyone, it even boasts some seriously odd sports via The Ocho, like Lawn Mower Racing and Combat Archery.
There are some access catches though. Like while Kayo does have boxing and MMA, pay-per-view matches will cost you extra. And although you can catch most live NRL and NRLW games on Kayo, State of Origin matches are only available on-demand after they've already aired on Foxtel or free-to-air channels.
It was also recently announced the UFC Main Event Channel will be dropped from Kayo. Although the service often re-signs other sports leagues or expands coverage to cover these losses, for example when Kayo broadened its AFL offering.
DAZN
While DAZN may not offer as many sports as Kayo, there are some double-ups like American Football, Basketball, Tennis, Equestrian, Extreme Sports, MMA and Wrestling.
The biggest content perk is that top-tier DAZN Ultimate subscribers get a minimum 12 pay-per-view events included with their subscription. It's also worth noting this subscription tier is cheaper than Kayo Premium.
If you don't think you'll watch the majority of the specialty sports Kayo offers, it may pay to opt for DAZN and save a few dollars per month. It really depends on how much the wide content range means to you.
Unlike Kayo, DAZN's sport content can be downloaded for offline viewing. And while pay-per-view fights are exempt, the loophole is it can be downloaded one month after the live event takes place.
Kayo Sports vs. DAZN: Quality and compatibility
Kayo
Kayo Standard customers get Full HD quality viewing but upgrading to Premium unlocks 4K viewing, provided you have a compatible device, of course.
Disclaimer: Kayo is not available for use in Very Remote regions of Australia.
Kayo is available on a huge range of devices, consoles and smart TVs. Below is a detailed list of main devices and consoles Kayo is compatible with and how it compares to other major streaming services:

DAZN
If you want to stream sports in 4K, DAZN sadly isn't the service for you. Regardless of which subscription tier you choose, you will only get a maximum full HD video resolution
For device compatibility, DAZN content is available to stream on most major smart TV brands including Hisense, LG, Samsung, Sony, Panasonic and Philips as well as Android TVs. Amazon Fire Stick, Apple TV, Chromecast are also compatible devices.
For Xbox users, Xbox One, Xbox One S, Xbox One X, Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X are all supported, however, Xbox 360 is not. PlayStation users will be happy to learn PlayStation 4, PlayStation 4 Pro and PlayStation 5 all support DAZN viewing.
As for phones and tablets, Amazon Fire Tablet, Android Phones, Android Tablets and iPhones and iPads also pair well with DAZN. Strangely, while Kayo is not available on Fetch TV boxes, DAZN is.

Final verdict: Which streaming service is better for sports?
Like all comparisons it really depends on your wants and needs in a sports streaming service.
For a wider range of content, Kayo comes out on top. But if you only want to watch combat sports and pay-per-view events, DAZN is for you.
In terms of price, DAZN wins here. But again, if it doesn't cover the content you want, what is the point in saving $5 per month?
For compatibility, both are on par with each other.
As for quality, Kayo wins with its 4K offering.
