Man with cricket bat on cricket pitch

These days it seems there's always something happening in the world of cricket. If it's not the the Ashes series, it's the Women's Big Bash League, the men's Big Bash League, or Australia's annual summer of cricket.

That's a lot of cricket to keep track of. Fortunately, we're here to help. So if you want to keep up your streaming batting average, read on for the best ways to watch major cricket events in Australia. In this guide, we'll cover:

What is Kayo Sports?

One of the best ways to watch this summer's most exciting cricket events is Kayo. Dubbed the "Netflix of sports", Kayo has made itself into an Australian cricket destination. Programming on Kayo this year will include exclusive live and on demand coverage of Australian ODIs and T20s as well as simulcast coverage of international test series.

If you're interested in Kayo you can sign up for a 14-day free trial before committing to a subscription, which is $25 per month to watch on two simultaneous screens, or $35 per month to watch on three simultaneous screens.

As well as coverage of the events themselves, Kayo comes with a range of unique features designed specifically for sports fans.

There's the option to watch split-screen, so you can keep track of multiple cricket events at once, or take in the cricket while you also keep up with the NRL, AFL, Super Rugby, soccer, tennis and more. Or if you want to multi-task while you watch, Kayo's pop-out player will allow you to use your computer while having a small window open in the corner of your screen.

There's also the 'key moments' feature which will help you navigate straight to the hottest moments of a game if you're starting late or catching up on demand.

The Ashes

This year's Ashes test series between Australia and the motherland is in full swing, and the best way to watch it is on Channel Nine. You can tune in the old-fashioned way or stream for free live or on demand with 9Now.

Here are the dates of each 2019 Ashes test:

  • 1st Test: 1-5 August, 8pm AEST
  • 2nd Test: 14-18 August, 8pm AEST
  • 3rd Test: 22-26 August, 8pm AEST
  • 4th Test: 4-8 September, 8pm AEST
  • 5th Test: 12-16 September, 8pm AEST

To watch 9 Now, all you need to do is create a free account (if you don't already have one).

You can watch 9 Now on your TV with using Apple TV (4th generation), Telstra TV, Google Chromecast, Fetch TV, Freeview Plus, PlayStation 4, or using a Sony, LG or Samsung smart TV. You can also watch on an Apple TV 3rd or 2nd generation device, using AirPlay via your iPhone or Mac.

If you prefer to watch on a smaller screen there's an app available for iPhone/iPad as well as Android phones and tablets. Or you can watch on your computer using Google Chrome, Safari, Internet Explorer, Firefox or Microsoft Edge.

You can watch Kayo on your TV using Apple TV (4th generation), Telstra TV, Google Chromecast, or via the Kayo app if you have a smart TV with Android 7.1 or above.

If you prefer to watch on a smaller screen there's an app available for iPhone/iPad as well as Android phones and tablets. Or you can watch on your computer with Google Chrome, Firefox or Safari.

Alternatively, you may prefer to watch the series on Foxtel, if you're already a subscriber. To watch on either Foxtel proper or Foxtel Now (the streaming version), you will first need to have a channel starter pack which costs $29 per month through Foxtel or $25 per month through Foxtel Now. You will then need to add a sport pack for an extra $29 through either service.

You can stream Foxtel Now on your computer, iPhone/iPad or Android device, as well as through a Telstra TV, Google Chromecast, Foxtel Now box, Apple TV (using Apple AirPlay), or PlayStation 4.

To watch Foxtel proper, you will need a Foxtel iQ box. One will be included in your subscription for $125, plus a $100 installation fee. However, Foxtel often waives both fees during promotional periods.
