Going to the movies isn't cheap. If one adult takes one kid to see a Hoyts movie, you're looking at close to $50 just to get bums on the cinema seats. And that doesn't include the obligatory snacks! Thankfully, Hoyts offers more than a handful of ways to avoid paying the full asking price. Here's how to get cheap Hoyts tickets in Australia.
Hoyts discount tickets with a Telstra plan
Are you a Telstra customer? Whether you have a Telstra NBN or a Telstra mobile plan, you have free access to the Telstra Plus rewards program. Sign up for Telstra Plus and you can get up to 50% off Hoyts movie tickets. Better still, every $1 you spend equates to 10 Telstra Plus reward points. Those reward points can eventually be put towards movie tickets.
The cheap Hoyts tickets via Telstra Plus vary price-wise depending on the cinema, the ticket type, and even the time of day. Looking at a Wednesday screening of Avatar: Fire and Ash as an example, best-case Telstra Plus pricing was $18.10 instead of $27.50 for a standard screening, $18.50 instead of $32.50 for Xtremescreen, $19 instead of $35.50 for DBOX, and $40 instead of $48 for Hoys LUX. Note that those prices don't include those pesky online booking fees that Hoyts will charge (which is true of all the options on this page).
One of the hidden perks of being a Boost Mobile customer is you also get access to the Telstra Plus rewards program. If you're in the market for a Boost prepaid plan, here are popular picks from our database.

Cheap Hoyts movie tickets with Foxtel Rewards
If you're a Foxtel customer, you can access cheap Hoyts movie tickets via the Foxtel Rewards program. Foxtel Rewards has a more straightforward offering than Telstra: $12.50 standard Hoyts movie tickets and $28 LUX tickets. The disclaimers are very manageable, too: one transaction per Foxtel Rewards member per day, and you can only add up to six discounted tickets per transaction.
Foxtel Rewards is one of the cheapest ways to get Hoyts tickets, but it's only available for Foxtel customers with an IQ set-top box. If you're in the market for a Foxtel IQ plan, check out these options from our database.
Uber One: Cheap Hoyts movie tickets for Uber customers
Uber is seemingly competing with Foxtel Rewards, offering a similarly simplified pricing structure, albeit at a slightly lower price. If you're an Uber One member – which costs $9.99 per month or $96 per year – you can pay $12 for standard Hoyts movie tickets or $27.50 for Hoyts LUX tickets.
Buying discounted Hoyts tickets via Uber One also includes unlimited free popcorn refills. As long as you flash your Uber One membership status and return your empty popcorn container, you can feasibly get free refills of regular popcorn all day at Hoyts.
This deal only makes sense if you're already paying for Uber One, or accidentally paying for Uber One.
At the time of writing, the Uber One Hoyts tickets discount was due to end 30 November 2027.

If you're a Hoyts regular cinemagoer, it's also worth signing up for the Hoyts Rewards program. The free Hoyts Rewards membership offers 10% movie discounts. But if you pay the $18 annual fee, you can get 25% off tickets, plus 10% off the Hoyts Candy Bar. The free and paid versions of Hoyts Rewards also earn loyalty points, which you can eventually exchange for discounted ticket pricing or even the full price of a Hoyts movie ticket (not including booking fees). Hoyts Rewards members also get $12 standard tickets for the 'Movie of the Week'.
