Apple is set to extend the free trial period for Apple TV+ subscribers until February, as first reported by TechCrunch.
When Apple TV+ launched last November, the tech giant offered up a year-long free trial to customers who purchased a new device. The first of these free trials were set to expire at the start of November, but subscribers will now get a bonus three months of free access. Instead of paying their first Apple TV+ bill in November, customers won't be charged anything until February. This extension only applies for those that started their free trial before the end of January this year.
In addition, anyone who takes up a paid subscription before November this year will get three months of free access. This will take the form of a credit applied for the months of November, December, and January.
While an extended free trial is a nice little pandemic treat, it may also help transition Apple TV+ subscribers over to Apple One bundles when they launch later this year. And hey, you now have more time to watch Ted Lasso and Mythic Quest, both of which are excellent. I'm not your real dad, but watch them. Seriously.
If you want to stop your Apple TV+ subscription from renewing, you can cancel it by following these steps:
- Open up the App Store on your iOS device
- Tap the Account icon in the top right hand corner
- Tap subscriptions
- Tap Apple TV+
- Tap Cancel Free Trial
Be aware that if you cancel your Apple TV+ free trial, you'll immediately lose access and won't be able to reactivate it without paying. Instead, it might be worth setting a reminder for your next billing date. Updated billing dates for the three month extension should happen in the next shortly.
