Google just announced its latest Pixel devices, and the Pixel 11 Pro XL is the manufacturer's fresh supersized offering. Key upgrades include the Tensor G6 chipset, improved main and zoom cameras, and the "HiLight" notification light.
Pixel 11 Pro XL pre-orders are now live ahead of an August 20 release date.
Google Pixel 11 Pro XL plans
The Pixel 11 Pro XL is available on mobile plans from Telstra, Optus, and Vodafone. All three telcos offer 24-month and 36-month repayments. A 24-month term means you own your Pixel 11 Pro XL faster, while a 36-month term brings down your monthly cost.

Google Pixel 11 Pro XL features

Google Pixel 11 Pro XL design
The Pixel 11 Pro XL isn't hugely different from last year's model, as far as design and aesthetics go. You still get a 6.8-inch display protected with Gorilla Glass Victus 2, but it has higher peak brightness and is more scratch-resistant this year.
In addition, the camera bar has gotten a literal glow-up. It is now glass across the entire width, and features a notification light called "HiLight" on the right side, replacing the temperature sensor. Contacts can be assigned custom colours to provide a visual cue for who is calling. Google says more features that take advantage of HiLight will launch down the line.
The Pixel 11 Pro XL is available in a choice of Obsidian, Fog, Olive, and Canyoo.
Google Pixel 11 Pro XL camera
The Pixel 11 Pro XL has a new primary lens and a new 5x zoom lens. Both are still 50MP and 48MP respectively, but the zoom lens has a larger sensor backing it, which should in turn increase photo quality. These are paired with the same 48MP ultra-wide camera and 42MP selfie camera from last year's model.
Google Pixel 11 Pro XL battery
The Pixel 11 Pro XL has a 5,115mAh battery, which is about the same as what you'd find in a Pixel 10 Pro XL. Google says the Pixel 11 Pro XL will last up to 30 hours per charge.
Google Pixel 11 Pro XL processor
The Pixel 11 Pro XL is powered by Google's new Tensor G6 chipset, as with other Pixel 11 devices. Google says the processor delivers 25% faster web browsing and 15% faster app loading.
Google Pixel 11 Pro XL software updates
Google says the Pixel 11 Pro XL will get seven years of major operating system upgrades and seven years of security updates, as with the rest of the Pixel 11 family. This is a best-in-class promise for an Android device. As such, we're expecting Android 23 to be the last version of Android the Pixel 11 Pro XL will be upgraded to.
Google Pixel 11 Pro XL 5G
The Pixel 11 Pro naturally has 5G connectivity. WhistleOut's coverage checker tool has 5G coverage maps, making it easy to see whether you can get 5G. All you need to do is pop in your address when searching for a new phone plan. After you've done so and hit Search, you can jump straight to the coverage map by tapping See Coverage Map and then tapping Click To Activate Interactive Map.
This map will show you what kind of coverage you have in your area. 5G coverage is highlighted using the darkest shade of purple, but unticking 4G can help make it clearer. The drop-down menu lets you choose between telcos.
Coverage maps are only approximate, only show outdoor coverage, and may be impacted by local conditions such as buildings.

Google Pixel 11 Pro XL plan providers
Telstra, Optus, and Vodafone are all ranging the Pixel 11 Pro XL. Here's a breakdown of the major benefits you can expect each provider to offer.
Telstra Pixel 11 Pro XL plans
Telstra Pixel plans are often the priciest on the Australian market, but they do come with a host of perks.
Telstra lets you pay your Pixel off over 12, 24, or 36 months, and all plans are free from excess data charges. If you go over your cap, your data will simply be slowed to speeds of 1.5Mbps, which is still fast enough to stream video in SD. But speeds may be slower during peak times.
Telstra still has Australia's largest mobile network, covering over 2.14 million square kilometres. In addition, Telstra has a partnership with Starlink operator SpaceX, allowing you to send text messages via satellite when mobile coverage is unavailable. A clear view of the sky is needed for this.
Telstra is the only telco in Australia to still have a rewards program. As a customer, you earn points for every dollar spent with Telstra, which can then be redeemed for discounts on new tech.
Optus Pixel 11 Pro XL plans
- Discounted access to streaming services through SubHub
- $5 for 5GB of roaming data when overseas
Optus Pixel plans come with solid data inclusions.
Higher-end Optus plans also come with unlimited international calls to selected destinations included with the plan.
All Optus plans are contract-free, and devices can be paid off across 12, 24, or 36 months.
In addition, all Optus postpaid plans are free from excess data charges. If you go over your allowance, you'll be slowed to 1.5Mbps rather than being billed $10 per gigabyte.
Vodafone Pixel 11 Pro XL plans
Vodafone Pixel plans may not come with the kinds of freebies and perks you can get from Optus or Telstra, but they have bonuses when it comes to bundling.
If you have a Vodafone mobile plan, you can get most of the telco's internet plans - NBN, 5G home internet, and 4G home internet - at a discounted rate.
Vodafone customers also save $5 per month if they bundle a second mobile plan on to their account, and then an extra $15 for each plan after.
Vodafone postpaid plans are all free from excess data charges. When you go over your plan allowance, you'll be capped at 2Mbps.
You'll also get access to Vodafone's famous $5 roaming, which is still easily the best way to travel with your Australian phone number.
Thanks to a network sharing agreement with Optus, Vodafone's network coverage is now practically identical to Optus' when it comes to 4G.
How to choose the best Google Pixel 11 Pro XL plan for you
There are a few key factors to keep in mind when picking a Pixel 11 Pro XL plan:
- Answering "how much mobile data do I use" can help you avoid overspending. Don't pay for more data than you need
- Decide whether you want to pay off your phone shorter on a 24-month plan or get a smaller bill over a longer period of time on a 36-month plan
- If you're a frequent overseas traveller, consider any international roaming inclusions
- You may also want to make international phone calls so check if the destinations you may be calling are included in your plan
