Telstra today refreshed it broadband offering again, adding plans with unlimited download allowance for the very first time. Telstra was one of the only Australian broadband providers to not offer an unlimited internet plan, and instead had options with inclusions as large as 3TB.
Existing Telstra customers on plans worth $99 and up will automatically have their allowance upgraded to "unlimited", and customers on plans worth less will see their allowance doubled.
New Telstra customers have two choices of unlimited broadband plan: a $99 option with a Telstra TV 2 and three months of a single Foxtel Now starter pack, or a $130 option with either a Telstra TV 2 and two-years of a Foxtel Now starter pack, or a basic Foxtel from Telstra subscription with the standard entertainment pack. Both options are only available on a 24-month contract with pay-as-you-go phone calls. $10 extra adds unlimited calls to Australian local, national, and mobile numbers.
Customers taking up these plans on the National Broadband Network will start on the NBN 25 tier. An upgrade to NBN 50 will set you back an extra $20 per month, while an upgrade to NBN 100 is an extra $30 per month.
Notably, Telstra is one of the first telcos to start providing typical speeds between peak usage periods (7pm to 11pm) as per new ACCC guidance and suggests that NBN 25 customers will get speeds of at least 15Mbps, NBN 50 customers will get at least 30Mbps, and NBN 100 customers will get at least 60Mbps.
