Get the first month free on all of TPG's NBN plans: Is it worth it?

There's nothing like the promise of free stuff to get people across the line. To that end, TPG is offering all of its NBN plans at $0 for the first month.

This offer is available until July 2, 2024.

See TPG's NBN plans here:

TPG will let you bring your own modem for free or you can pay $99.95 for its modem (plus, $10 delivery fee).

Both TPG and iiNet (which it owns) previously had a long-standing first-month free offer for their 5G home internet plans which ended recently. While the HWBB offer required a $0 upfront payment, the NBN one has a catch.

With this offer you can't just sign up and get a free month's worth of internet, you'll still be charged for the first month and then have the free month credited to your next bill.

It's not all bad news. While TPG doesn't offer the lowest prices on the slower speed tiers, its NBN 100 and NBN 250 plans are among the top 10 cheapest NBN plans in WhistleOut's database. Out of all the providers with speeds tested by the ACCC, TPG is one of the faster ones. In the latest report, it recorded an average of 99% maximum download speed on its NBN plans for the busiest period of the day.

Here's how TPG's plans compare to other providers:
