Telstra is now backing its NBN plans with a 30-day satisfaction guarantee, allowing anyone to cancel their contract within their first month "for whatever reason" with no early termination or exit fees. Better yet, in most cases, you'll get a refund for your setup costs and first bill.
If you're not happy with your Telstra NBN service, Telstra will refund your first monthly plan fee, any speed boost charges, hardware repayment costs, and connection, installation and casual plan fees. Telstra will also let you keep any equipment you've received, other than Foxtel kit. Non-standard installation costs, NBN Co Installation fees, and other charges that aren't typically a part of a plan won't be refunded. You can cancel your plan and get your refund using Live Chat or over the phone.
All new Telstra NBN subscribers are eligible for the guarantee, on all of NBN plans.
Telstra's NBN plans are as follows:
Telstra joins Vodafone in being one of the few NBN providers to offer a "satisfaction guarantee". Vodafone's network guarantee is similar to Telstra's in that you have 30 days to cancel with your NBN plan after it's activated. You'll also get a refund, but you will need to return any hardware.
Vodafone's NBN plans are as follows:
While the majority of NBN providers don't have a "satisfaction guarantee" in the same sense as Telstra and Vodafone, there's plenty of ISPs who'll sell you a no-contract NBN plan with no setup fees. While you won't get a refund if you change telco, you also won't be penalised or charged termination fees.
Here are a couple of contract-free NBN 50 plans with no setup fees:

In other Telstra news, the telco also unveiled its "Smart Wi-Fi Booster", a wireless range extender designed to work with its modems. The Smart Wi-Fi Booster is designed for larger houses to increase the reach of a home Wi-Fi network by providing additional points where devices can connect.
The Smart Wi-Fi Booster works with all Telstra supplied modems (but only Telstra modems), and is available to new and existing customers. You can grab a two pack for $180 outright, or $7.50 per month over a 24-month contract.
