Sibling telcos Tangerine and More now offering 250Mbps and 400Mbps Fixed Wireless NBN plans, following the launch of the new speed tiers last month.
At present, around 300,000 Fixed Wireless premises can order a NBN plan on one of these new speed tiers. This will grow to 700,000 by the end of the year. Not every in the Fixed Wireless footprint will be able to order these, however. The 250Mbps plans will be available to around 90% of Fixed Wireless users and the 400Mbps option to around 80%.
Take a look at Tangerine and More's new plans here:
Tangerine's plans come with six-month introductory offers while CommBank customers can get 12 months' worth of discounts on one of More's plans.
Neither provider can quote typical evening speeds at present. Active8Me for example, is quoting "Wholesaler Typical Evening Speeds" that are provided by NBN. These are download speeds of 90Mbps and 120Mbps respectively, with upload speeds of 8Mbps.
All NBN providers must measure user speeds between 7pm and 11pm and publish typical evening speeds when they have enough data.
Tangerine and More are some of the earliest NBN plan providers enabling faster speeds following Leaptel, Active8me, and Aus Internet. Aussie Broadband is expected to launch the faster plans in September.
Fixed Wireless NBN customers can check eligibility for the faster plans through the NBN website. Some customers may need hardware upgrades even if the network in their area has been serviced. This includes those with a WNTD-2, diamond-shaped antenna. The new equipment is provided free when customers order an upgrade and typically takes two weeks to be set up.
