TPG is the latest provider to offer its customers NBN plans with speeds faster than 100Mbps. Subscribers of the telco can now pick from NBN 250 and NBN 1000 plans, in addition to more traditional speed tiers. Its new plans are as follows:

FTTP, HFC

nbn Home Superfast Unlimited Plan

FTTP, HFC

nbn® 740/42 Mbps
Unlimited Data
Deal: $74.99/mth for first 6 months, then $104.99/mth. T&Cs apply.

If you're looking at NBN 1000, TPG will charge you $114.99 for your first six months and $144.99 per month thereafter. TPG's discount is a little more generous than most, and the $144.99 is just a touch cheaper than most full price NBN 1000 plans.

TPG reports typical evening speeds of 250Mbps on its NBN 1000 plan, which is fairly standard for the speed tier. Very few providers have reported faster, with Telstra and Aussie Broadband as notable exceptions. Telstra reports typical evening speeds of 700Mbps, while Aussie Broadband is a little slower at 600Mbps.

When it comes to NBN 250 plans, TPG is charging $94.99 per month for your first six months and $124.99 per month thereafter. It's not the cheapest plan around, but a touch cheaper than some of the competition. TPG's NBN 250 and NBN 1000 plans are contract-free.

NBN 250 and NBN 1000 plans are only available to customers connecting to the NBN via FTTP and HFC. All FTTP customers can get either plan. All HFC customers should now be able to get NBN 250 plans, but only 58% can get NBN 1000. This should increase to 94% by the end of the year. Many FTTN and FTTC areas will be able to upgrade to FTTP at no extra cost by the end of 2023.
