NBN Co today confirmed that Australians at a premise with a HFC connection type who have yet to connect to the NBN will not be able to order a service as of 7pm AEDT tomorrow. Service orders will be paused for several months due to a component shortage that impacts the NBN Connection Boxes provided to customers with HFC.
This decision does not impact HFC customers who already have an active NBN connection, and the network builder says it is still able to repair and replace equipment for existing customers if need be.
If you've got a HFC NBN connection but have yet to connect to the NBN, you should place an order by 7pm AEDT tomorrow (February 2). If you're unsure of what technology type your premise uses, you can check by entering your address into our NBN plan search tool. However, even if you are able to place an order, we understand that there's a significant wait time on installation.
At this stage, NBN Co says it does plan to honour all HFC orders in the system.
While NBN Co has no timeline as to when it start connecting HFC premises again, it intends to offer them for vulnerable customers - for example, those with medical alarms.
