If you're thinking about getting a home loan with Australia's largest bank, you can score three years of free NBN. Commonwealth Bank is offering eligible conditionally pre-approved home loan customers free service through More, a telco it partially owns.
The offer is available to CommBank customers with conditional pre-approval of an eligible home loan who then find a property before the end of the year. The loan value must be at least $250,000, and the offer is not applicable to construction loans.
As part of the offer, customers will get More's NBN 50 plan for free, which normally sells for $77 per month. This works out to be roughly a saving of $2,770 over three years. Customers are free to upgrade to a faster speed tier, but will need to pay the difference in price.
The free NBN service doesn't need to be taken up at the property's address, so the offer can also be used when purchasing an investment property.
For those not thinking about getting into the property market, More also offers CommBank customers 30% off their NBN bill for their first year. Here are More's NBN plans:
Without the discount, the plans aren’t too competitive - they skew toward the higher end of the pricing spectrum for their respective speed tiers. But with 30% off, they're a lot more compelling. When you factor in the savings, here's what you'll pay for More's plans as a CommBank customer:
- NBN 25 was $66 per month – $46.20 per month with discount
- NBN 50 was $77 per month – $53.90 per month with discount
- NBN 100/20 was $99 per month – $69.30 per month with discount
- NBN 100/40 was $109 per month – $76.30 per month with discount
- NBN 250 was $119 per month – $83.30 per month with discount
You need a CommBank credit or debit card to get these deals.
For comparison, here are some of the cheapest NBN 50 plans on the market:
More's discounts don't always make it that much cheaper than alternatives on most speed tiers, but it's worth remembering that the promo lasts for a full year. Most other providers only offer discounts for the first six months, so you're saving more in the long run with More. And More's plans are contract-free, so you're free to leave whenever.
