Aussie Broadband is the latest NBN provider to start selling "Fast" and "Superfast" Fixed Wireless NBN plans, following the launch of the speed tiers back in July.
Here are Aussie Broadband's new Fixed Wireless plans:
| Speed Tier | Evening Speeds | Price |
|---|---|---|
| Plus (100Mbps) | 47Mbps | $89 per month |
| Fast (250Mbps) | TBC | $95 per month |
| Superfast (400Mbps) | TBC | $119 per month |
Aussie Broadband hasn't reported typical evening speeds for the new speed tiers yet, as it doesn't have sufficient data to calculate them yet.
While the new Fixed Wireless speed tiers have been available to providers for a few months now, only a small number have been offering them to customers. Other options include Tangerine, More, Activ8me, and Leaptel.
Unsurprisingly, Aussie Broadband's plans are on the more premium side. Tangerine, for example, charges $65.90 per month for the first six months for its 250Mbps Fixed Wireless plan. This increases to $85.90 per month thereafter.
More's pricing for a 250Mbps plan is a touch more expensive than Aussie Broadband's at $96 per month, but CommBank customers can get this down to $76.80 per month for the first year. They'll then pay an ongoing rate of $86.40 per month.
Similar holds true when comparing against 250Mbps Fixed Wireless plans:
Every premise in the Fixed Wireless footprint can currently order a 100Mbps plan, but the faster options are a bit more limited. When upgrades are finished, the 250Mbps plan will be available to 90% of the Fixed Wireless footprint, and the 400Mbps option to 80%.
At present, around 300,000 premises are able to order a NBN plan on one of the new speed tiers. This will grow to 700,000 by the end of the year.
When a customer orders one of the new plans, they may need new equipment installed to support the speeds. If this is the case, the turnaround time should be around two weeks. Aussie Broadband recommends its existing Fixed Wireless customers give it a call to see if they're eligible for a faster plan.
Running an address check on the Aussie Broadband website will also reveal eligibility.
