Aussie Broadband now has "Pro" NBN plans with much faster upload speeds

Aussie Broadband has launched a new range of "Pro" home NBN plans with upload speeds of up to 400Mbps. Upload speeds on home NBN plans typically max out at 50Mbps on NBN 1000, so the Pro range represents a big step up for those looking for something faster.

Aussie Broadband - and other providers - have typically only offered NBN plans with these kinds of upload speeds to business customers, which can limit their availability. Aussie Broadband requires customers to have an ABN to get a business NBN plan. It's waiving this requirement for the Pro NBN plan range, allowing home users to get faster upload speeds.

There are three plans in Aussie Broadband's Pro portfolio:

A $139 per month plan with download speeds of up to 250Mbps and upload speeds of up to 100Mbps
A $169 per month plan with download speeds of up to 500Mbps and upload speeds of up to 200Mbps
a $199 per month plan with download speeds of up to 1,000Mbps and upload speeds of up to 400Mbps

Notably, these plans are only available to those with an FTTP NBN connection.

Here are the full details:

These plans all come with a free static IP, which would normally cost $10 per month on a standard Aussie Broadband home plan. When compared to Aussie Broadband's business plans, the Pro offering is up to $100 per month cheaper as customers aren't getting business-grade support (which can include 24/7 availability and priority fault restoration). As such, the plans are geared at home users rather than as an alternative to business customers.

Of course, not everyone needs upload speeds as fast as Aussie Broadband is offering on its new Pro plans. In a home context, the benefits of faster upload speeds would largely be speeding up remote backups, sending large files to someone else, or getting better connectivity for a home server setup.

As such, a standard NBN plan would be more than enough for typical NBN users. Here's Aussie Broadband's core range.
