Aussie Broadband has dropped $10 per month off all of its plans under 100Mbps, and $20 off anything faster for Black Friday.
While the discounts on lesser speed tiers don’t exactly scream savings, if you’re looking for a fast (or a super or ultrafast) plan these deals are well worth taking a closer look at.
There are providers offering NBN 100 plans under $79, but the vast majority of these are well below the average typical evening speed for this tier. We are seeing typical evening speeds continue to trend upwards, and with so many sitting in the mid to high 90s mark it is hard to recommend settling for something slower. Here is how Aussie stacks up on NBN 100 speeds against other providers advertising similar prices.
The most comparable plans come from Exetel and Optus. All three providers are offering temporarily discounted prices on these plans for the first six months. After that Exetel’s plan goes up to $95 per month, Optus’ to $99, and Aussie’s to $99. While all of these plans are contract-free, note that with Exetel you’ll need to give 30 days notice before you cancel or switch plans, and with Optus, you will need to pay out the remaining price of the included modem to a maximum cost of $252. If you bring your own modem over to Aussie then you can cancel once the promo period is over and you won’t have any more to pay,
When it comes to NBN 250 plans, Aussie isn’t the cheapest but it is one of the fastest. Beat out only by Telstra, Aussie Broadband 250 plans have typical evening speeds of 248Mbps. Telstra’s plans are significantly more expensive during the promo period, but once the six months are up the two will both set you back $140 per month.
Once we hit NBN 1000 territory Aussie Broadband is once again the second fastest provider behind Telstra. Here, however, the evening speed differences are far more varied between our top two and the rest. Telstra advertises speeds of 700Mbps, Aussie 600Mbps, and then My Republic is next on the list down at 350Mbps. It sure is a drop.
Telstra NBN 1000 plans set you back $180 a month, while Aussie’s promotional pricing is $129 for the first six months. After this, the cost reverts back to $149 which is still substantially cheaper than Telstra.
To take advantage of Aussie’s Black Friday discounts use code BLACK10 for speed tiers below 100Mbps, and BLACK20 for 100Mbps or higher.
