The ACCC has released its 27th Measuring Broadband Australia report, and Exetel continues to rank as the fastest NBN provider after dethroning Telstra last quarter.
The latest ACCC report found Exetel customers receive 103% of their NBN plan's maximum speeds during the busiest hours of the day (between 7pm and 11pm).
Dodo and sibling brand iPrimus took second place, with their customers found to get 102.4% of plan speeds during busy hours. This marks their highest placement yet. Performance on the pair of Vocus-owned telcos is measured as a single result.
Telstra slid to third place, with its customers found to get 102.3% of plan speeds during busy hours. That's unchanged from last quarter.
The report monitors 12 telcos in an attempt to find the fastest provider. Telcos featured include Aussie Broadband, Dodo, Exetel, iiNet, iPrimus, Launtel, Leaptel, Optus, Telstra, TPG, Superloop, and Vodafone.
Here's the full breakdown of how they all performed:

The report found that busy hour speeds for fixed-line NBN are faster yet again. Customers achieved 100.9% of their plans' download speeds, up from 100.4% last quarter. Notably, the number of underperforming NBN fixed-line connections decreased from 4% to 3%.

The Measuring Broadband Report also includes fixed wireless NBN plans. The average download speed Fixed Wireless Plus plans was 96.1Mbps, down from 96.7Mbps last quarter. Busy hour speeds were faster than last quarter, up to 86Mbps from 78.2Mbps.
The report noted that Fixed Wireless Plus plans show considerable fluctuation throughout the day, however, dipping as low as 30Mbps during busy hours.
For the first time, the Measuring Broadband Report now covers satellite connections. Unsurprisingly, Starlink outperformed Sky Muster NBN. 111Mbps was the highest download speed observed for satellite NBN, while a peak speed of 470Mbps was recorded for Starlink.
The report noted that Sky Muster connections achieved 83.2% of plan download speeds during normal hours, and 66.1% during busy hours.
As always, it's worth remembering the scale of the ACCC's testing. The results come from a month-long testing period in September across 1,181 NBN connections. All but 60 of these households have a connection with one of the 12 providers featured in the report. The ACCC reports a 95% confidence level in its results.
